Penryn scribblers drawing support for doodle day

Penryn scribblers can put their pens to paper this week as part of a national day to celebrate doodling and raise some charity cash for epilepsy support.
National Doodle Day aims to get as many people drawing as possible to help support the 600,000 people across the UK with epilepsy.
The event, on Friday, will have a local flavour when staff at the Olive Branch community cafe call on budding artists to join them at their stall on the Penryn Friday Market from 9.30am to 2pm.
This year, UK-based charity Epilepsy Action is inviting people to “do a doodle, donate a pound” with the chance of a prize for anyone taking part.

The competition is made up of three categories – seven years and under, eight to 16 years and 17 years and over. The winning doodlers will receive up to £150 worth of arts and crafts vouchers and a 3D custom-made figure of their doodle courtesy of Scottish designer Lucy Moose.
Jane Cross, treasurer at Olive Branch, said: “As a number of our team are artists, this sounded like a fun way to raise money for a good cause and bring people together.
“My dad had epilepsy and my sister’s partner was diagnosed with it a couple of years ago. It is a condition which I know will affect some people locally and National Doodle Day provides an opportunity to raise awareness. As with other common health conditions, epilepsy is often unseen and misunderstood.”
